Finnair celebrated a decade of direct flights between Helsinki and Phuket yesterday, having operated its first flight between the cities back in 2014.
The inaugural flight, AY37, departed Helsinki at 19:10 on 14 November 2014, before arriving in Thailand at 10:25 the following morning, as Finnair strived to bring Europe and Asia closer together with seamless connectivity.
Launched as a three times per week service, today, Finnair’s route from Helsinki to Phuket is an integral part of their network and continues to grow in popularity, with flights operating five times per week in December, before increasing daily from January 2025.
Originally operated by the Nordic airline’s now retired Airbus A340 aircraft, today, customers flying to Phuket can enjoy Finnair’s state-of-the-art A350s featuring its new lie-flat Business Class seat, the AirLounge, in addition to the airline’s brand-new Premium Economy cabin, and refreshed Economy Class.
