Avelo Airlines today celebrated its second international destination with the start of service between Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) and Cancun, Mexico (CUN).

Avelo operates this route to Cancun twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

This month Avelo has debuted six new routes at BDL: North Carolina’s Charlotte / Concord (USA) and Wilmington (ILM), Florida’s Daytona Beach (DAB) and Orlando / Lakeland (LAL), Houston via Hobby (HOU).

Saturday, the airline inaugurated service to its first international destination: Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).

easyJet is to launch a new route to Split in Croatia from Liverpool John Lennon Airport starting next summer.

On sale from today a new twice-weekly route to Split will start on 9th June and operate on Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer with fares from £34.99*

Finnair celebrated a decade of direct flights between Helsinki and Phuket yesterday, having operated its first flight between the cities back in 2014.

The inaugural flight, AY37, departed Helsinki at 19:10 on 14 November 2014, before arriving in Thailand at 10:25 the following morning, as Finnair strived to bring Europe and Asia closer together with seamless connectivity.

Launched as a three times per week service, today, Finnair’s route from Helsinki to Phuket is an integral part of their network and continues to grow in popularity, with flights operating five times per week in December, before increasing daily from January 2025.

Originally operated by the Nordic airline’s now retired Airbus A340 aircraft, today, customers flying to Phuket can enjoy Finnair’s state-of-the-art A350s featuring its new lie-flat Business Class seat, the AirLounge, in addition to the airline’s brand-new Premium Economy cabin, and refreshed Economy Class.

Ryanair has announced a new direct route from Aberdeen International Airport to Krakow, enhancing travel options for North East passengers next summer.

This twice-weekly service, commencing on 2 April 2025, will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, providing convenient access to one of Europe’s most vibrant and historic cities.

The route caters to both leisure travellers and those visiting friends and family, marking Krakow as Aberdeen’s second direct connection to Poland after the popular Gdansk route.

With the addition of Krakow, Ryanair continues to expand its operations from Aberdeen, where demand for European destinations has been on the rise.

Chris Tibbett, Aero Director for AGS Airports, praised the move: “This new route to Krakow is a fantastic addition to our network, and we are delighted that Ryanair has responded to passenger demand by introducing this service.

Ryanair will launch a new direct route to Malta from Glasgow Airport next summer.

Launching on April 1, the twice-weekly service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

This eagerly anticipated addition marks Ryanair’s seventh route from Glasgow, complementing the airline’s current destinations of Alicante, Brussels, Dublin, Krakow, Malaga, and Wroclaw.

easyJet announced the launch its first flights and package holidays from Birmingham Airport to Marrakesh, Reykjavik, Hurghada, Prague and Krakow this week.

The fantastic five now provide even more convenient connections at great value fares for travellers across the Midlands.

Flights took off from Birmingham to Marrakesh on 6 November and are now operating twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout winter.

This was followed by a new service to Reykjavik in Iceland which launched yesterday on 12 November operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout winter.

As the darker days settle in, Lufthansa Group Airlines is inviting travellers to look ahead and plan their summer 2025 adventures, with a fresh flight schedule now open for bookings.

With Lufthansa Airlines, Discover Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, and Edelweiss all releasing new intercontinental and European destinations, there are a variety of options to explore.

Lufthansa will introduce a new route from Frankfurt to Bydgoszcz in Poland. Discover Airlines is expanding from Frankfurt to Ålesund in Norway and adding flights from Munich to destinations like Windhoek (Namibia), Calgary (Canada), Orlando (USA), and Bodø (Norway).

Austrian Airlines will offer flights from Vienna to Edinburgh (Scotland), Sylt (Germany), Burgas (Bulgaria), and Harstad-Narvik in Norway’s Lofoten archipelago.

Swiss International Air Lines is broadening its routes from Zurich with new services to Niš in Serbia, Montpellier in France, and Heringsdorf in Germany.

Flight F3 777 arrived at Sohag International Airport to a water salute, an airline industry tradition to welcome a new aircraft or route, followed by an official ceremony hosted by the airport authority.

Eyad Jamalallail, flyadeal director of ground operations, represented the airline on the first flight.

Steven Greenway, flyadeal chief executive officer, said: “Today marks yet another significant milestone for flyadeal with our newest and lesser known destination of Sohag joining flyadeal’s ever-growing network.

Avelo Airlines announces a new route to Nashville, Tennessee and celebrates the start of three more new routes from its base of operations at Central Florida’s Lakeland International Airport (LAL).

Avelo’s newest route to Nashville International Airport (BNA) will begin on Thursday, March 6 with twice weekly service on Thursdays and Sundays.

This week, Avelo launched three new nonstop routes from LAL: Atlanta (ATL), Hartford, Conn. (BDL), and Philadelphia / Wilmington, Del. (ILG).

Last month, Avelo launched four routes from Lakeland: Charlotte / Concord (USA), Boston / Manchester, N.H. (MHT), Rochester, N.Y. (ROC), and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) bringing the total number of routes from LAL to eight, joining Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).

Cathay Pacific announces the resumption of its non-stop passenger service to Hyderabad, the capital city of India’s Telangana state, starting from 30 March 2025.

Now open for booking, Cathay Pacific’s upcoming Hong Kong-Hyderabad service marks the airline’s latest step in strengthening its network presence in India and enhancing connectivity at its home hub, Hong Kong.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay chief customer and commercial officer said: “We are delighted to be resuming our direct flights between Hong Kong and Hyderabad.

“These flights will provide customers with access to one of India’s most vibrant cities, known for its rich heritage and booming technology sector.

“The resumption reaffirms our established presence in India and our commitment to enhancing our services in this important market.

The service will operate three times a week upon launch, increasing to five times a week from 1 September 2025.
